Willow Hill began in 2012 when our family purchased a few acres in southern Jessamine County, just a stone’s throw from the Kentucky River. The house on the property had been vacant for years, and the land and barn in need of attention. But we saw great potential, both as a small-scale livestock operation, as well as a great place to raise our four children. So Willow Hill was born, and with it, the dream of building something we hoped would make a difference, both in our family and in our community.
Our goat herd began with the acquisition of four Boer does, brought here to help with grass and weed control. Within a few months, and after lengthy research, we expanded the herd with the acquisition of a Kiko buck and doe. After our first successful breeding season, another herdsire and additional does were added to the herd. In 2015, the barn was renovated, and the pasture made ready for our growing farm family.
We are not a commercial breeder, meaning our animals are not directly sold at auction (or individuals) for meat. Rather, our goal is to carefully breed outstanding registered Kikos that display solid physical conformation and gentle temperaments, and to provide these animals to other farms as herd starters.
Willow Hill is a registered Kentucky farm, a member of the National Kiko Registry, the Kentucky Goat Producers Association, and is Kentucky Proud.
